The International Fund for Public Interest Media (IFPIM) has joined MVA Forward as an MVA Partner.
IFPIM is a global initiative that supports independent, public interest journalism facing extreme challenges. IFPIM provides financial and strategic assistance to media organizations that are crucial to maintaining informed societies and democratic processes.
IFPIM’s mission is to make sure that high-quality, fact-based journalism continues to thrive as a cornerstone of democratic societies. The organization focuses on providing financial and strategic support to media organizations that play a critical role in holding power to account, informing the public and fostering democratic processes. The organization’s efforts are aimed at strengthening the resilience of public interest media, particularly in regions where such outlets are under significant threat.
IFPIM’s key activities include grant making and financial support to media organizations, especially those in low- and middle-income countries; capacity building and training; advocacy and research; as well as collaborative partnerships and innovation in journalism.
As an MVA partner, IFPIM will support the MVA Forward program mission to improve the sustainability and resilience of independent media globally and will also support the vetting of organizations joining the MVA platform, as per the MVA Trust Framework, in order to keep the platform a safe space for independent media. This vetting process is complemented by the MVA’s rigorous digital safety processes, supported by technology partner Microsoft.
