The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University has joined the MVA initiative as an MVA Partner.
The college fosters the development of independent journalism through robust educational programs; emphasizing ethical journalism, critical thinking, and practical skills, equipping students to support and lead independent media organizations globally. Through its various research centers and outreach programs, the college actively engages in promoting a free press and supporting emerging independent media ventures. Murrow college carries out research at the intersection of media, religion & conflict, with goal of the International Journalism Education Initiative being to serve as a catalyst for advancing journalistic education, addressing emerging challenges, and promoting ethical journalism.
The organization’s vision is to create a global hub for journalism education: fostering collaboration, innovation, and the exchange of knowledge among journalism educators, professionals, and students worldwide.
As an MVA partner, Murrow College will support the MVA Forward program mission to vet organizations joining the MVA platform, as per the MVA Trust Framework, in order to keep the platform a safe space for independent media. This vetting process is complemented by the MVA’s rigorous digital safety processes, supported by technology partner Microsoft.
