The Association of Independent Publishers (AIP) joins as MVA Partner

AIP Logo

The Association of Independent Publishers (AIP)  has joined the Media Viability Accelerator as an MVA Partner.

Representing over 200 members in South Africa, AIP is a vibrant national organization that advances the interests of local grassroots independent print and online media, distinct from mainstream outlets owned by large media groups.

AIP’s members primarily serve rural areas and disadvantaged communities, publishing in all 11 official languages of South Africa and covering a wide array of interests—from social justice to cultural heritage.

AIP’s participation in the MVA will enhance the program’s reach and impact, bringing essential perspectives from grassroots operations, some of which are run by just one person in informal settings. This collaboration not only strengthens the viability of independent media but also enriches the MVA’s ability to support true media diversity, pluralism and access in historically underserved communities across the country.

AIP will also support the vetting of organizations joining the MVA platform, as per the MVA Trust Framework, in order to keep the platform a safe space for independent media. This vetting process is complemented by the MVA’s rigorous digital safety processes, supported by technology partner Microsoft.
